Job Description Web Developer Location: Wilmington, DE 19803 Interview Schedule: Phone screen, then personal interview with hiring manager and technical team leaders. <UL> <LI>This position is responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and support of the Front End of Web based applications. </LI> <LI>This position will work at several phases of the software development life cycle and will be personally responsible for Front End application appearance and functionality: requirements gathering/specification, designing interfaces, writing code, compliance testing, some documentation, maintenance, and some user support. Provide support (24x7 onsite-on-call) for production systems. Demonstrate an understanding of business and technical requirements for each assigned project. </LI> <LI>This position will make recommendations about Web technologies, acquisitions, and hiring within the technology group. The individual in this position has a high degree of responsibility and autonomy and therefore must keep up with current technologies. </LI> <LI>The individual in this position must work well with other members of the technology team. The individual in this position will play a significant role in the success of our organization in both in serving end-users and paying partners. </LI> <LI>Design, develop, test, document, and maintain the Front End of Web based applications (pages and forms) using XHTML 1.0, CSS 2.0, JavaScript, XSL, PHP 5.0, JSP, Photoshop, and Dreamweaver. <LI>Responsible for design, creation, and maintenance of over 120 licensed partner sites, support for clients when needed. Wrap our content in partner's styles adapting partner's HTML, CSS & JavaScript for compatibility with our HTML. Involves adapting, fixing and sometimes completely recreating the code for partner's design/style. <LI>Design and code HTML E-mails for clients for compatibility for Outlook, Outlook Express, Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, and AOL. <LI>Ensure usability and accessibility across all projects - Coding to w3c standards compliance on all new projects and moving everything in this direction when working on existing models. Section 508 accessibility compliance wherever possible. Graceful degradation of JavaScript. Provide equal compatibility, look, and feel across several platforms including IE6 (PC), IE7 (PC), FireFox (PC & Mac), Safari (Mac). <LI>Provide support to staff. Provide XHTML & CSS services, support, and instruction to other developers. Write, design, and produce instructional material for use by end-users. <LI>Tests, troubleshoots, and analyzes complex system problems and determines solution. Must be on call 24 hours a day x 7 days a week in case of a problem with the live site. <LI>Requirements Documentation & Project conception - Create documentation from initial job request through completion. <LI>Assess and make recommendations regarding tools, languages, methodologies, and processes pertaining to the work of the technology team. (The focus here is looking at what we currently do and how we do it.) <LI>Keep up to date with a wide range of communications technologies (particularly those related to Website design), and operationalize those new technologies as they provide benefit to the work of the center and users/clients. (The focus here is looking at what the market currently does and should we do it.) </LI></UL> Requirements: <UL> <LI>Expertise in HTML/XHTML (W3C), CSS (W3C), Photoshop CS2, Dreamweaver 8. <LI>Intermediate skills with JavaScript, XSL, PHP, JSP, DOM. <LI>Proficiency with application software testing (unit, integration, and application-level). Familiarity with QA Test Plans and QA Methodologies. <LI>Excellent interpersonal/communications skills with the ability to interact effectively with team members and members of other departments.
